New Year’s Resolutions – 5 ways to make them stick
New Year’s Resolutions are a great opportunity for a fresh start. After the New Year’s Eve celebrations, we start thinking and planning our goals and intentions. We are convinced, that THIS YEAR will be different! Our mindset is optimistic that we will definitely achieve all our goals THIS year. Unfortunately, for many of us, ‘business as usual’ sets in and our optimism slowly changes to ‘realism’ and then by middle of the year, most of us have become quite pessimistic as to whether the goals can even be achieved, and are tempted to give up. However, we at Get Up and Go Publications, have a range of Diaries Planners and Journals to help you stay inspired and motivated throughout the year, so you can achieve all that you desire.
We know that your New Year’s resolutions are really reflecting what you truly want in your life. We understand that you are committed to achieving something that will have a positive impact in your life
And we know how all too easy it is to get off track when ‘real life’ gets in the way!
Here we are going to share with you 5 ways to using our diaries and planners to make your New Year’s Resolutions Stick:
“The world steps aside for the man who knows where he is going” ― James Allen
1. Take care of yourself is the first major way of five New Year’s Resolutions
“Your health is your wealth” ― Anon.

A space to write your goals each month helps you to keep focussed on where you are going and how you are getting there.
With your SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time Limited) health goal firmly planted in your minds, and a clear vision of how you will look and feel when you achieve it, this journal will support you in achieving a healthy lifestyle. Choosing to be happy is great for your health. Have fun and achieve your health goals with ease … and why not do it with a buddy?
2. Make a plan and stick to it
“Plan your work and work your plan.”
The “GetUpandGo™ Daily Planner for Busy Women” is a simple and inspiring aid to helping you plan successful days, available to you in hard back, the diary has a place for you to write a daily “power word”, to inspire your day, and a page of suggested power words to choose from to help you get each day off to a positive start. Reading inspirational quotes first thing in the morning gets your brain into an optimistic and positive frame of mind to be productive.
Your planner won’t work unless you do so to set your day up for success. When you need some motivation, check in on your daily power word and your weekly focus statement. It’s your power word, chosen by you to empower you for your day. Here is a great way to use the ‘plan for the day’ page: Start the day ahead, the night before. Check in with your Planner before you go to bed. Jot down at least one thing you have accomplished in the day. Write down at least one thing you are grateful for. Note what you have already scheduled for tomorrow. If not already scheduled, write down your 3 most important tasks. If not already scheduled, write in your 3 most urgent tasks, If not already chosen … write your wish list. Close your planner. Set your clock. Let your subconscious mind process and prepare while you sleep.
3. Prioritise.
“One step at a time is all it takes to get you there”
Start your year with a promise to yourself, that you will do your best, that you will make the most of every opportunity. You deserve to have good things happen. Tell the Universe what you want. Be brave. It’s OK to want a great life. Using your diary and planner to write down your intentions and dreams AND what you are PROMISING yourself, gives you more incentive and encouragement to stick to your plans. You CAN do it.
4. Easy Does It.
‘Don’t overestimate what you can do in a day, and don’t underestimate what you can do in a month.’
Glance at the pages of the months ahead. They are empty – waiting for your plans. Put some solid actions into the days ahead and spread out the load. This will help to avoid any sense of overwhelm and structure your month. If you need to re-schedule appointments, let the other person know as soon as possible. If you also have an electronic calendar, or use your phone, ensure you sync your devices and your physical diary.
5). Have fun!
“Fun is just another word for learning” – Raph Koster.
The “GetUpandGo™ Daily Guide to Health, Wellbeing and Happiness” diary includes a ‘Wheel of Life” which offers a fun way to score yourself on how you are honouring your commitments in areas including personal growth, social life, fulfilment, self care, family and more, helping you to identify which areas you excel at and which areas, if any, you could pay more attention to. An option to track the hours you spend on activities provides a helpful check-up for your mental and physical well-being. The diary is peppered with inspirational quotes, poems, recipes and affirmations.
